The
Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) is a device for detecting low levels or short
pulses of light. It consists of a photocathode input, a gain stage and
an anode, which provides an electrical output signal. With an ultra-fast
response
and
high sensitivity it is ideally suited to high energy physics and nuclear
research.
